Measuring Success


Measuring social media is still a controversial issue that still has very few resolutions to examine all social media monitoring in its full perimeter.  Presently there are still a multitude of free tools that can examine and monitor your social media activity to ensure that it’s working for your business and reaching all of your expectations and goals. Analyst and monitoring specialists can examine your business activity on the network and collect all feedback from monitory tools and social media efforts. You can completely contract your social media analysis to many specialized companies offering a multitude of software or just simply select a number of free selective sites that will give input to your establishment. In the following paragraphs we will be discussing three tools such as Klout, Twitter Counter and You Tube Insight because they seem to be predominant in the small business sector. . In the following graph will indicate the ratio to activities for social media monitoring. Later we will be discussing the pros and cons of selected monitoring tools for monitoring social media.


This will be the first topic to discuss because of its popularity and easy access for downloading software. Klout ,  is a San Francisco based company that provides a social media monitory tool to analyses a business exposure across the social network. The software program collects all of its data and initiates file programs on its users and posts them to a Klout score. The registry has consumed over 100 million profiles and registered users will have their social networks assessed and evaluated in their scores. The scores range from 1 to 100 and   are modified with three specific measures. Klout format software uses true reach, amplification, and network impact which serves approximately one billion calls per day and the API is more focused on Klout than Twitter count. It accumulates critical data points from Twitter utilizing the, re tweets, list memberships, and follower counts. The software accumulates all of its accounts that are following the business profile and registering higher profile tweets from influential individuals. The software architecture of Klout is based around connecting all businesses and establishments with high-profile registered individuals and celebrities . Companies have paid higher premiums to get in contact with individuals with high Klout scores in hopes that they obtain many perks and free merchandise that will influence them to spread positive publicity for the business.

The cons are that Klout has not been fully honest in its disclosure and its methods have been questioned most recently. The Klout scores have been very inaccurate and do not represent the influence of an individual in full context . In a business prospective the lower value of its scores can ultimately mislead the company’s influence and register a false opinion on the Klout score. The score lowers the value with online communication and elevates its social ranking and momentary social level by trying to mediate human interaction. Social criticism is no longer used due to the manipulation of modifying scores and preventing accurate information on Klout registered social users. The site has been recently called a socially evil operation and it has been criticized by the social media network for exploiting users for its own profit and violating the privacy of minors. Due to Klouts previous terms and conditions which have been demonstrated in the company’s business format became illegal in the United Kingdom because of the nation’s  Data Protection Act of 1988.

Twitter Counter

Twitter Counter, is a free service that initiates  its business software and  tracks your activity on Twitter. Twitter Counter started as a self-funded start-up business based in Amsterdam June 2008.  You can purchase the basic service for free but you have the option to upgrade your service from 17 dollars a month to $150 if you require a better service called Pro Stats. This service is considered to be Professional in Standards and more personalized in twitter statistics. The following software packages include followers, following, rate of follower growth or decline, your average number of tweets per day and a momentary public influence.  The company provides a convenient graph feature on your apps that will illustrate your ascension or decline while pacing your tweets and comparing yourself to other accounts. Your business may keep track with its direct competition while comparing your progress to other establishments.   Twitter counter provides with an embedded feature which is a widget for your blog in which the individual can monitor the number of recent visitors to your site and just simply glancing at the side bar provided. Twitter also provides a convenient method for people to follow you. The pros on twitter Counter is mainly that the company provides a wealth of features that are not normally offered by other social tools and an excellent IT support team.

Presently Twitter counter is having major problems because of glitches in the sub systems creating a number of anomalies in the twitter counting system and its IT engineers are trying to overhaul the software network. Presently they are encountering a tweet button count that is not updating to its specifications. It registers a low count  on the URL because the tweet counter takes over  and has shorten the initial tweet count messing  up everything on the software. Normally a business is relying on the count in the URL but it has been noted that the button has to be modified on the tweet counter to give an accurate update. The company cannot change the present frame-work because it will offset the complete website and the software company will not accommodate a fix because of a simple glitch. The only fix that has been done is that the IT techs have modified the program on the Follow Me but there is still some instability in the counter scale.

You Tube Insight

Most businesses presently are adapting into the largest popular social media tool because it offers more than just comments but initiates a company’s image and profile which is viewed globally. . Any person can register on a YouTube account which they can view statistics about their audience and the response they will receive from their videos uploads. To obtain an account is generally free but you have the option for future upgrades and pay levels. Advertisers come up with the impending costs to keep the overhead of the You Tube site to a minimum but the basics of financial upgrade falls to the consumer. Small business can take advantage of this popular site to gain public opinion and feedback with their video uploads. You Tube provides many types of data such as community engagement, Popularity, Discovery, Audience Attention and Demographics. It can demonstrate global locations of viewers and a graphical trend where your videos are coming from. You can read the comments on how the viewers discovered your video observing how many times viewer’s rate. You can observe your audiences age, gender and how they differ from one region to another. YouTube provides a unique feature referred to as Hot Spots which indicate your video’s popularity by observing the bounce and rewind rate as compared to other related videos. As a business I would make this social media tool as a primary source of opinion and demographics to enlighten the profile of the company’s standing.

There will always be some negligible short comings like other social media sites when You Tube is compared to other very active social media sites but it still exceeds in its public popularity. Costumers require confidence and reliability in performance but Google’s resolution to fix the problems in You Tubes glitches has raised many complaints from its audience. Most of the complaints have emerged from frustrated customers who state that Google’s main head office is always closed or unavailable and most issues do not ever get resolved. You Tube’s continuing circumstance in solving this issue was trying to down load CSV files for back logging its data but the company was too slow to upgrade or directly address the problem to satisfy its loyal audience. Some of those file issues related to problems of videos being restricted from one country to another. This chaos lead too many internal domestic feed lines to be shortened and certain videos pertaining to company logos were eliminated which weighed down on many businesses to pullout. As it turned out the related video files were extracting legitimate business videos of illicit programming.

After examining three social media monitoring tools my selection would be You tube Insight because of its popularity and cost effectiveness. As a new business starting , I would use this tool has an advantage point and get an initial feel how my business is being viewed. I have  noticed many small businesses in the local are  using You Tube Insight and examined their strategy in context with the local population.

This weeks blog is going to be a strategic demo graphical approach to creating a business line concerning social media and its incorporation into a media tool for a fictitious company called Extreme Promotional Materials. In the following paragraphs I will try to demonstrate the type of social media tools to be used and its injection to the company’s profile and the image that will be conveyed to the public. Basically its part of a business plan utilizing media for company exposure.


A social media plan should be used  for blogging, social networking ,multimedia tools and on-line views and opinions. There are many people who don’t post to Twitter or Face Book at all. They use it as an information resource,observing these particular trending topics to  source their news or follow people they find interesting or informative. This can be a great way to use Twitter and Face Book as advertisement for the company. Linked In would expose your business to other establishments of related items in advancing the company’s portfolio. These Social media sites are  unique as a communication tool, although it’s also what intimidates  small business owners from using this tool. Being the conversationalist can be very time-consuming, but the rewards are high in terms of building a loyal following and truly connecting with people who are interested in what the business has to offer. This approach involves communicating on several posts per day, many of which are directed at specific people and businesses. Very similar to the Brand Watchdog, this too is focused on watching for and responding to customer service questions.

 There are many people who don’t post to Twitter at all. They use it as an information resource, watching the Twitter trending topics to crowd source their news or follow people they find interesting or informative. This can be a great way to use Twitter and Face Book to learn a thing or two. The key here is to be careful about what you design on your Twitter and Face book page. You want a specific group of  people with a high signal to noise ratio to respond to your social media sites.

Mission, Vision, Goals

“Extreme Promotional Materials mission is to stay ahead of the curve in providing businesses and organizations with quality personal service regarding products,marketing and advice for the 21 century and help athletic individuals be active and feel better maintaining a high quality of  professionalism.” This logo will be implemented on all applicable social media formats to envision a predominately based business association. We would have to show that we are ahead of the competition and our logo has to express the company’s commitment. In the mission statement we are trying to conceive the fact that we are a proactive company advancing in many may ways. On the Twitter account we would have to use a short brief statement such as, “To be on top is to stay healthy and fit”. In our product line such as uniforms can express pride and fundamental spirit for the athletic individual who wants to exceed himself among his team mates. When examining  other sport pages you can see the pride in the athletes modesty.


Key Messages

The company produces high quality products and predominantly a reliable resource that is a concern for the needs of the costumer. Through our professionalism we can convey our strategies in promoting our services to a certain market that our products our unique. We have to demonstrate that our professional staff is experienced educated and trained extensively in its field of operations to create a strong image in the costumer’s confidence. Our logo and mission would demonstrate the excellence that our services compel in its message to our demo graphical audience.

Target Audiences

The target audience would be naturalists, innovative, athletic and older diverse  generation. Generally the demographic group of  culture would be predominate in about 8 years to 45 years of age. The scale would rapidly drop as the age group elevates. Since the majority of a younger audience is technology friendly, they would be monitoring the social media sites and obtaining your comments and feed back from them. It would be difficult to try to reach a whole age group so its much more feasible to center in on a computer generated audience that has acquired  all the gadgets and toys  to access the social media sites. When dealing with athletes you have to bring out their moral spirit and the company reflects that attitude.

Social Media Tools

In our present technology Twitter and Face Book is the most commonly used social media sites because of the large audience it has recently captured in the last 10 years. We will also utilize some subsidiary sites such as Pintrest by injecting the company’s picture logo into the format like Twitter, Face Book and other large corporations have done in the past. It will give advertisement exposure and allow a large audience to access the logo to their preferences. The company can also use monitoring software called SM2 to evaluate any concerns or opinions that arise in comments by other media sites so that the establishment can evaluate its projections and goals on a day-to-day basis. You Tube will be incorporated in to the company’s plan by initiating commercials and Corporate Social Responsibility videos and access  a link to the consumer  for easy user-friendly promotion for a particular demographic audience. Linked In would be incorporated as a direct business site to help expand the company’s initiatives. Mostly it is the younger athletic type generation that will access the social media sites and then escalate the information by word of mouth and Linked In will create adversity with your business projections to a more mature audience.

Social Media Engagement Strategy

Starting with Face Book we would set up the initial company logo on the very top with a small caption of our mission statement. The initial audience will be targeted for the athletic culture and the population that is health oriented. A progressive company that shows advancement will project good reliable products and this has to relay in the social media sites.The back ground picture of a particular product will be bright and simple for the audience to identify the subject. The small Twitter and Face Book logo will be place near the top so that the audience can immediately recognize the social media acknowledgment for comment. The You tube Logo can be placed lower in the page site so that the individual can decide to look further after reading and examining the content.  In the page site we can show very basic pictures of some of the services and products the company has to offer. Some of the product line photos will be of a unique nature and a comment section can be accessed on each photo in order to get feed back from the costumer. On each social media logo we will place a like,share and comment link to acquire as much feed back as possible. An information tab will be placed on top showing a map location and a contact number with a web site locator. The Face Book site will be monitored twice a-week initiating comment feed back. A time line logo will be place on top so that the reader can access our full product line,history of the company and CSR event employee interactions and photos of the everyday activities in the business. it gives the potential reader an excellent insight into the business aspects so as to promote the company’s positive image. The company Twitter account would be fairly the same as Face Book but not as detailed . The strategy would be approach in similar context but the mission statement “to stay on top is to stay healthy and fit”, would have to be brief due to limited text. Twitter would have to be monitored daily to orchestrate  constant opinion from the audience sector.


Social media sites are a unique method of company advertisement  and social feedback . You have to take certain steps with caution when dealing with certain sites because it can come back to haunt your business . You can mediate to the wrong audience and get negative feed back to turn the course of your company’s strategic goals and initiatives.


Pinned Image  The three different steps that I will be initiating in social media in producing a foot print on the internet is the use of Linked In, Word Press and Face Book. Not until  two months ago I had no ideal what Social Media was and its impact was on the business world. Now with complete exposure and knowledge I have learned to manipulate the effectiveness of certain social media tools. I have selected these three items because of the their ability to connect to so many people and I have had the opportunity to try so many media tools recently. Since I am very new to the technology I have managed to build my sites professionally and avoided the mistakes others have made. Very recently I have made many hits on job prospects but unfortunately they are geographically not suited. I have had the opportunity to build my portfolio from scratch and exposed it on all my media sites. I want to show my personal  and my professional side. Basically what I am trying to not  say is  “all work and no play makes jack a dull boy”. I want to be able to show complete diversity.

linked in   My first topic is Linked In because I feel that it is the most important part of my social media tool. It is the professional side to Face Book but much more serious. Generally it is linked to all businesses and human resources departments. Up until recently I had no exposure to the business sector and I have created a foot print in google which has networked my portfolio to all corners of the globe. Linked In has accumulated all of my resume and work life experiences. I plan to use this tool for professional developement and transparency. I want to show the world who I am in work context and deportment. The first major step was to illustrate my work experience and job qualifications. Some of these qualifications are very unique and can be transferred to other fields for diversity. The second step  is to illustrate my  social character behavior through my hobbies and work life experiences. I am trying to convey a lighter side to my professional life. The third step is to link in to as many possible businesses and Human Resource departments. So far I have succeeded because many job opportunities have been posted on my site and I have been invited to participate  on many business discussions. The last initiative is to use this website on my personal resume and portfolio.

WordPress   My post on social Media is Word Press and its valuable uses. I selected word press because of its unlimited space availability. I am presently building up my portfolio in my About Page to show a professional and human side of my character. Word press provides an exhausting amount of space to insert dialogue and photographs of my life experiences. I am also linked to Face Book and Twitter so that many business prospects can examine my complete foot print on the internet. When examined by many inquisitive individuals I get so many compliments on my site which proves that it will be a complete effective exposure the to internet.The next major steps is to complete all posts in a unique professional manner. My next step is to annotate my web site into my resume , business cards, portfolio , cover letter and cover page. Most employers do check Google for foot print and dialogue in the internet and its justifiable to give them a full concept of your personal and business life. The most priority of course in the next step is to have all of my resume,portfolio and business cards annotated with this website.

Face BookThe last one to discuss is Face book because it is the least of my objectives and I am not too much of a fan of this media site but it does serve its significant purpose.  Face Book is now the most national popular social media site and it has grown to one billion. It can link up to any followers and employers today are starting to examine these sites for possible hiring of potential candidates. I have studied the mistakes that a majority of people have committed on Face Book and since I am new at this rolling thunder I will build this site to a diplomatic level of deportment. In the next following steps I will be cautious of what media or comments are submitted to my site and expel any derogatory remarks or dialogue  that will demote my exposure to the social media. I have approached this site with a business attitude but also to show the human side of my social life. I am trying to convey transparency but also attempting to protect my confidentiality . I am not to fond of Face Book but sometimes you got to dance with the devil to meet your objectives. In recent steps I have initiated magnificent profile pictures of my worldly activities showing future prospects that I do think outside the box and given myself the opportunity to be exposed to the differences around the globe. I am willing to expand myself on all levels and initiate any compromise that is thrown my way. I am not to concerned about annotating my Face Book website in my portfolio because the symbols are already in my other sites and a potential employer just simply have to access it on Google.

      In summary I have to be fully confident that my websites are competitive to other potential sites and to make sure I have the edge on other candidates. I need to be exposed as much as possible on the internet and I am looking into other possible sites that will meet my objectives. The days are slowing diminishing of just handing in a piece of paper to a possible employer where the internet is taking over and it is up to us to keep up with the times. By simply showing your ability to keep up with the present technology offered in this day can also demonstrate your ability to accept changes in the work place and display a competitive edge. Skill settings are raising the value of admissions into most work related job sites. When age becomes an issue you must demonstrate that your abilities exceeds some of the younger generation. First impressions is a lasting impression and some times that is the only chance you have at “the kick at the can”.
