Tech Crunch is a social media site that I will be discussing in this blog relating to a very important article in the business world. This is a news story written by Josh Constine ,that will create a strong ripple through out the social media world. It’s about an individual named Paul Ceglia who tried to manipulate Face Book in a fraudulent scam using computer technology and diversity in low-key software. The article http://techcrunch.com/2012/10/30/paul-ceglia-lawyer/My makes its views on how the new technological advances can create havoc in the software industry. Paul Cegelia created false documents showing that he had part ownership to Face Book by demonstrating through soft copy for over two years,and displayed evidence that he had split ownership with Zuckerberg. Of course when lawyers from all over the country found out about this they conveyed their concerns and wanted Paul Ceglia to be a client to launch a law suit against the owner of Face Book Zuckerberg to cave in to a multi-billion dollar settlement.
But through investigation ,no such e-mails could be found on the servers and as of October 26,Paul Ceglia had no claim and now faces prosecution. What was demonstrated here is a strong case of greed. In the business world greed is a strong motive for manipulating companies and costumers causing millions of people to lose their life savings and homes. Computer technology is advancing mankind initiatives but unfortunately it has its drawbacks. No software in the world is perfect and secure proof and it has its tendency for individuals to challenge its adversity through hacking and computer identity fraud. No matter how secure our server sites are there is always some one out there with the knowledge of software programs to manipulate the system.
The next social media topic I will be discussing is Mashable. The article ,”incredible viral soldier pic debunked by military http://mashable.com/2012/10/29/viral-soldier-pic-debunked/ was written by Sam Laird who will be discussing about reported stories and using other media’s by proxy. This story parallels along with my experience with the media on many different occasions. This is an article about a picture that was taken supposedly during Hurricane Sandy and these soldiers stood on guard in front of the tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington D.C. during the storm. This is a known fact and I been to Arlington cemetery, that these soldiers are trained to stand on guard in all inclement weather. Of course the picture was a fraud. An individual posted it on face book hoping to give more significance to the dedicated soldiers but stated that the meaning was more important than the actual event its self . Some people try to do well but sometimes it can create jeopardy for certain groups.
In the business world the media is always misrepresenting an event so that they can glamorize it much more than what it is. The greater the story the more money it can generate for its corporation. A good example is when CNN covered the events in Syria last summer and actually used footage from a high-definition video game called mortal combat. It was cleverly exercised in the footage because during this time the media was barred from the middle east and all footage was censored. It was only then later that a group of computer specialists recognized the footage and approached CNN and its sub contractor to disclaim the news event. In the business world there are many scams and misrepresentation occurring domestically and internationally. In this particular case the military could find this offensive and could lead to contract cancellations and effect a majority of major corporations and small business. Lets face it the military is a major factor for funding for almost every contractor in the country. Just remember the famous picture on Time Life magazine that was taken 1945 when the soldiers raised the flag at Iwo Jima. It raised Billions of dollars for the war effort and caused an international sensation and public support for the war effort. While the war effort is still going on in the middle east we still have to be politically correct and sensitive to those who are serving. When I served in Afghanistan I have witnessed many times of the media abusing a story or an event. One media story in Kandahar actually caused Tim Horton coffee shop to pull out and created a sever ripple in the local business sector.
The last social media trend we are going to discuss is Social Media Explorer. The topic I chosen is the four rules for todays social business journey by Andrea Cook. The article http://www.socialmediaexplorer.com/social-media-marketing-training/16266/ basically reflects the amount of 3 million dollars generated from social media sales and advertisement. What the article is implying that social media sites are changing into social business which like life is a journey. The first rule is keep your eye on the ball. because technology is constantly changing you must keep up with the new innovations and stay focus on revenue sales and market shares. The second rule is speak their language which implies that all CEO’s and management must conform to the new trends in Twitter and Face Book or other Social media’s that generate sales revenues. Not only do we have to communicate for their brands on the market but also internally for domestic and cultural differences.
Many companies can suffer from drawbacks if the wrong information goes on the social media network. In the past we have seen many downfalls for celebrities and business because of national opinion. Just this week it has been observed Shoppers Drugmart was criticized in Facebook and Twitter for playing Christmas music too early for respect of remembrance day. Because of the controversy , outraged public opinion swayed other companies tofollow suit. Before it was just simply hard copy from the media and television but in present day everyone is carrying an Ipod or a cell phone and can access their accounts on Twitter or Face Book. The mass population can now give immediate feed back and create national opinion in a matter of hours. Before companies just had to worry about loose files on hard copy but now with Blackberries and smart phones videos pictures can be taken immediately and distributed in a matter of minutes giving the corporation very little time for battle damage control. Companies that are starting to take advantage of this business situation are establishments that now can sell software programs such as SM2 to monitor information or text concerning a particular company’s reputation . For a certain fee a company can monitor public opinion pertaining to its respectable business. As a consumer I would be affected by this information in order to do business with this company or not. It has been observed recently, false information released on the social network effect trading in the stock market and companies would suffer from great losses. It’s always been mass media that directed us on how to do business and how we conduct ourselves.
In summary we are in an age of high technology and it has changed the way we do business and how we conduct ourselves in everyday life. We are constantly under the microscope and can be directly influenced by national opinion or exposed by high-tech gadgets. Are personal lives are no longer confidential like it was 20 years ago and we are slowly loosing our personal lives . Businesses today have to bend to the new social media network and make it function to their standards.
I want to initiate a discussion about two social media tools that stood out the most for myself. I would like to talk about Pintrest http://pinterest.com/ and one other tool that was not mentioned but it is vital to our business needs. That tool I strongly feel is called Linked In http://www.linkedin.com/. One tool offers the advantage of colors schemes and photography capturing the visual senses and the other is using Pintrest on linked in to enhance our business resume. When all these media tools combined can enrich the observer and basically human behavior rely’s mostly on visual concepts.
Pintrest is a Pin board style social media website that allows individuals to create images and themed base collections based on hobbies, business advertisement, work related or just everyday human activities. When we discuss Pintrest we are advocating are desires to visually sell ourself and our business.The website offers a wide variety of pictures of every day situations to specific categories such as aviation,motorcycles,traveling, food ,pets and so on and so forth. The ideas are endless and pictures would cover every aspect of human life. We can add pictures to the site so somebody else can use it. In my case I found many wonderful sights to aviation and particularly to my radio control hobbies.
Working Together As a Team
I can follow other users of the same interests and provide what ever pictures is required. I can also save my pictures on this website for future use as for example ,I have just downloaded all of my travel pictures and basically save them as a back up drive. Now other users can see where I have been especially when future employers can be impressed when they can see what diversity I have to offer.
This website ‘ Linked in ” is more for the more serious business related concepts and is directed to people trying to sell themselves in the job market. A recent article http://www.ecommercetimes.com/story/More-Polished-Pictorial-LinkedIn-Draws-No-User-Wrath-76416.html describes exactly what the website is conveying to the public sector as compared to Face Book.The web-line is going to assist me on the job network system and initiate proper protocol in a serious business matters. Mostly I what I discovered that it has been Human Resource employees from major companies who are on the web link searching for responsible , proactive individuals seeking employment across the country and even the world. The web line also indicates the candidates initiative to expand his or hers dynamic skills of internet tools and social media in its proper perspective of professionalism.
In summary I would recommend these two social media tools as a conglomerate collaboration of web lines to initiate professionalism and job knowledge application. As a job seeker these social media tools would expand my horizons and network across the nation in its perspective form. Visual enhancement is the key to getting recognized in the job market and how we perform in public. In this world you only get one chance at first impressions and recognition due to the highly competitive job market.
If I were to represent this company in a You Tube video I would make a human interaction approach in the beginning. Simply starting off with everyday activities with animals such as walking the dog,elderly people interacting with their pets because they do not have close relationships with their relatives. At this step the company would be introduced showing its location and its impact on the area by demonstrating that some people are alone in the world. Animals that help us in every day society that we take for granted. Working animals that provide us with assistance and give food products. Basically the company would show its purpose ,care and ownership responsibility.
The video would simply begin with everyday activities giving us a sense of strong purpose for our every day creatures. It would be a strong positive conjecture on their importance in society and we would have to respond to the needs of the elderly, family and children interaction. Dogs helping the blind, horse back riding to animals in the police field.We would show brief antiquities of different animal life styles demonstrating their sentimental importance in Society . The video would have to emphasize on the level of life’s confrontations and the meaning of assistance involving our lower species.
The next part of the video would show brief flash photos of the company and its workers in order to give the impression to the audience of sympathy and caregivers. Its design to work on the emotions of the local populace. Back ground music and verbal narrative would help with the mood giving a smooth flow to the next scenes. With the background music in low-key and the verbal narrative continuing we can easily jump into the complete interaction of the company showing its methods of operation and products that will assist the customer in his endeavors. It will also demonstrate how these creatures became part of the system due to neglect,abuse and injury. The method of this narrative is to link the same situation that every day humans experience but we have laws and establishments for treatments. During this narrative we would have to show what happens in rehabilitation and the methods used in a human manner. The video has a small pause and then a conjecture states that animals do not have the same help. Then a small summary solution is then played demonstrating the company Pet Pawsitive .
The video will change its format to a more aggressive and serious environment to emphasise on the interaction of the national shelters and the humane society. We would have to demonstrate to a collaborating audience that these establishments are a temporary solution but the focus on us is to make it a permanent objective. We would have to demonstrate that animals are not just objects of affection but contributing to our working life style.The video would have to show police dogs in action protecting are everyday lives to neglected farm animals that have recuperated from abusive injury and are now serving mankind with assistance or a necessary product. The narrative and music in the video would alternate to a softer mood in showing what the positive impact would be after the animals are released to its new owners. The video would then show brief photos and videos showing community life, fundraisers and events. The narrative would be brief and letting the audience see what the results in human interaction can accomplish. Again ,we want to appeal on our audiences sympathy.
In Summary a video of such humanitarian would have to appeal on the audience’s sympathy because generally, animals are not that important on the priority level. A company such as Pet Pawsitive would rely on mankind’s need and human emotions to survive in a business world. The general population does not see animals as necessity but as an inconvenience. Pet Pawsitive has to demonstrate to its potential costumers a defined set of human interaction and solutions for what this company has to offer. In order to obtain their goals , Pet Pawsitive has to utilize music and verbal narrative to play a large part in demonstrating a composition of human interrelations and objectivity . They must demonstrate in their final note that Pet Pawsitive is the solution and the end results would be successful.
I have chosen the company Pontiac Face Book site http://www.facebook.com/#!/Pontiac to examine, because I found this site more interactive and appealing than the other automotive sites. As soon as you bring up face book it strikes at you and easy to navigate than the other car manufactures and how they approach their ideals in how a face book site should appeal to the older and younger costumers. I found that their site is interactive and easy to select different categories. They give you a relatively number of products including present releases. So far they have made 99,778 hits.
To examine this site we must reflect on the individuals taste and needs. First it offers the 2013 releases and up coming events involving future technology updates. The ad sites is smooth and appealing giving good flow to the company’s image. What we see in-car designs is what we are observing in the ad structure so it can navigate the eye towards its advertisements. The ad is clean and open allowing better visual context. It is easy to then navigate to Pontiac’s different products and sub categories. As a car owner and mechanic I need to know more about updates and feedback on particular products that I have purchased. It’s not just cars that Pontiac is selling but its service quality.
I have been a GM costumer for 30 years and I noticed in my opinion that the company knows how to attract the public and keep its policy of transparency in its products. This is definitely reflected in its face book site showing openness and bias honesty . In the car industry image plays a major factor especially with all the criticism coming from the general public and major competition. The face book page offers the simplicity for the older generation because this sectors buys the higher end vehicles. For my self I do not have time to sift through complicated web sites because in this industry it does not take much to discourage individuals from going to the competitors. In fact Pontiac Face book is the embassador of the car company .
The reason that me decide to select Pontiac was that he site can be easily googled and comments can be directed into the face book site. As a consumer I want direct impact of my opinion to a car company. I was not impressed with Ford’s face book site because it lacked the ability to comprehend the customers need. There was too much flash and not enough direction . It seems Pontiac keeps to old motto ,(KISS) “keep it simple stupid”.
In conclusion if I were looking for a new automobile I realize just by going to social media sites could sway my decision of what automotive company I would select. I don’t want to be” razzle dazzled” but I do want to keep to the facts. Pontiac’s face book site provides me with just that . I am allowed to select just the pertinent information I need. If I want to see future ads of the new models then I would just select the site not like the other companies were they just throw useless information at you. In simple context “give the costumer what he wants, not what the company thinks he needs”.
